Whats So Fly About The F.L.Y. Group
Christ is not just in us; we are in Him. We are the Church. Each one of us makes up His Body. For this reason, the past, present, and future converge in celebration before Christ’s altar. We see Him and all those in Him.
The God that knows no limits brings us into His embrace. For that hour of worship, the Church celebrates as one family. We stand eternally united and infinitely treasured, closer than ever before.
VOLUNTEER
Volunteering looks great on college applications and resumes. Being apart of the F.L.Y. Group connects you with great volunteering opportunities.
Our comprehensive youth ministry program strives to “empower our young people to live as disciples of Jesus; draw them into participation in the life, mission and work of the Catholic Church; and foster personal and spiritual growth” (based on Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.) Our high school and 8th grade youth participate in parish and community based activities.
BIBLE STUDY MEETINGS- We dive into the Gospel of John with break out discussions, videos, and activities that relate to a young teen daily life
COMMUNITY SERVICE- Consists of various projects dedicated to the mission and work of the Catholic community. With mission trips, Monthly Crock Pot Thursdays, Babysitting Training, Helping Community Care, and Walking Dogs at Animal Shelters, the youth learn about the larger community while serving the poor and enjoying making a difference.
F.L.Y. GROUP MASS- F.L.Y. Teens go to the first Sunday of the month 9AM Mass
together.
F.L.Y. MEETINGS- The teens get together f to discuss and prepare for upcoming F.L.Y. sponsered Community Events such as our Annual Spring Fling, Breakfast with Santa, The Easter Egg Hunt, and Mission Trips. F.L.Y. meetings our almost every Sunday after 10:30 AM Mass.
SOCIAL EVENTS- are scheduled for high school and junior high students and help to build parish unity. These activities have included: Chipotle & A Movie and Pizza and Bowling. More events are underway!!!
FUNDRAISERS- are an important aspect of Youth Ministry and help build community. The money raised is used to fund our Mission Trips; diocesan seminars such as NCYC; and helps reduce expenses for supplies and social activities.
